Surviving in the beef industry today means adapting to changes in consumer demand.

That is what the developers of the Speckle Park breed had in mind when they created a moderate size animal that produces a tender, juicy, flavourful piece of beef, the size the restaurant industry desires.

Because it is a new breed, other characteristics were selected for as well; including easy calving, low birthweights, quiet disposition, and colour qualities that resist disease. More recently, carcass competitions and feedlot testing have proven the merits of the breed.

Please check out the website of the Canadian Speckle Park Association to see for yourself the advantages of this new distinctly Canadian breed.

"After retiring from the dairy industry, we decided to keep a few beef cows. Our feeling was that if you are going to keep purebred cattle, you might as well have the best breed. After trying the Angus breed, we decided we wanted quieter, less aggressive cows. Speckle Park fit the bill."
